Summertime is right around the corner, and the skies are about to get busier as more people are traveling for vacation. If you are traveling this summer, we have compiled a list of essential tips to make your summer vacation as enjoyable and stress-free as possible.
Worried about getting to the airport? You can park and ride at Hobby Airport with Key Airport Parking!
Book Your Trip Early
Book your end of summer travel as early in the season as you can. Domestic airfare is generally at its cheapest two months before the departure date, but prices can fluctuate wildly so be sure to keep an eye out for a great deal through the use of a travel app or flight alerts.
Fly Early or Fly Late
Fly early if you’re traveling in the U.S. Try to take your vacation by early to mid-June. After that, prices rise and stay high through late August. If flying early doesn’t work for you, fly late. Around the third week in August another cheap summer travel window opens up because children go back to school. That’s when families quit flying, demand for airline tickets slacks off.
When Flying During the Peak of Summer Season
If you find yourself traveling during the peak of the season, fly unpopular days and times such as Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. Cheaper times include flights at dawn and red-eyes or overnights. Another suggestion is to pack the cheapest bag. Airline baggage charges vary, so before you pack, check prices for suitcases and carryons and use the cheaper option.
Park Off-site
Time, price, and convenience are three important factors that you might consider when figuring out where to park. Your initial thought might be to park at the airport, but parking off-site and taking advantage of free shuttle services is an excellent alternative. With cheap prices, a shuttle to take you directly to your terminal, and less traffic than the airport, off-site parking can save you money and time without costing you convenience.
